Microtubes
Single-use containers designed to hold microliter to milliliter quantities of liquid. Products may be sterile/non-sterile, come with or without a variety of caps (screw, tether, snap), and may be suitable for use in microcentrifuges.
High quality standard snap cap microtubes, or microcentrifuge tubes, are essential for the safe processing of low to medium sized sample volume applications in clinical chemistry, biochemistry and molecular biology. Ideal for protein research, mass spectrometry, protein array, sample preparation, microcentrifugation and sample storage, they are available in a variety of colours, including amber and black for light sensitive samples.
The snap cap provides a safe, liquid-tight seal and some flat top caps include a needle insertion spot. Some microtubes are also available with additional safety lock snap caps to minimise sample loss during the centrifugation process and to provide added security when working with samples that are radioactive or which pose a biohazard.
Snap Cap Microtube properties
Available as sterile or non-sterile, polypropylene microtubes can also feature low binding properties to reduce protein and nucleic acid loss and hence better sample recovery.

Tubes are manufactured or exceptionally high-quality, transparent polypropylene without the use of slip agents, plasticizers, mold release agents and biocide substances. Offer exceptional centrifugation stability up to 25,000 x g; autoclaving with cap off; (121°C, 20 minutes); withstand temperatures from +121°C to -196°C; and writing surface on flat cap and side wall for quick sample indentification.
Caps offer complete sealing for minimal evaporation rate during long-term storage. Center of caps feature membrane for easy puncture and access with a syringe/needle. Once punctured, the opening can be useful for venting internal pressure during heating.

Electron Microscopy Sciences MacroTubes™ with Snap-Caps, Green
The 5 ml MacroTubes thave all conveniences of standard 1.5 ml tubes but are scaled up for larger volumes. The attached cap provides a tight, leak proof seal from -86 deg C to +80 deg C and can be opened or closed with one hand. The tubes are made of maximum clarity, low-binding virgin polypropylene and are certified RNase and DNase free.
Tubes are sized to be compatible with all Benchmark (USA) and standard German-designed equipment. The 16 mm tube diameter is identical to the diameter of 15 ml tubes, ensuring compatibility.
The potential contamination of pipettor shafts is greatly reduced because the 56 mm total tube length (vs. 120 mm for 15 ml tubes) is short enough for standard 1 ml or 5 ml tips to reach the tube's conical bottom. Feature dual graduations at every 0.2 ml and 0.5 ml.
