Microcentrifuges
Compact footprint centrifuges used for small sample sizes, such as microtubes. Ideal for microfilter cell separations and HPLC samples. Available as electronic or handheld manual units; may have digital interfaces and refrigeration capabilities.
Microcentrifuges are specifically designed to accommodate tubes that hold less than 5.0 mL. Although benchtop centrifuges can be fitted with rotors for microtubes, microcentrifuges usually have a smaller footprint, which makes for a less-crowded work area.
As with other benchtop centrifuges, these units can be ventilated (operated without temperature controls) or refrigerated. Most are sold with a rotor, although additional alternate rotors may be available.

The MyFuge™ Mini Centrifuge is a personal centrifuge that virtually fits in the palm of your hand. Ideal for quick spin downs of microtubes and PCR tubes, the MyFuge is extremely easy to use. Simply close the Lid and the rotor instantly reaches 6,000 rpm. Open the Lid, and the rotor quickly decelerates to a stop for removing samples. An increased capacity, eight-position microtube rotor is included and comes installed. Also included is a second rotor for 0.2mL PCR tubes and strips which is stored (together with the rotor removal key) in a convenient comparent on the bottom of the centrifuge. When the rotor is not in use, storage in this comparent prevents loss or misplacement of the rotor.

Benchmark's PlateFuge, is the first "mini" sized centrifuge with a swing out rotor for microplates. Centrifugation of plates before PCR ensures all reactants are in the bottom of the wells for optimized concentrations and imporved yields. In spite of its remarkably small footprint (9 x 10in.), the PlateFuge includes a uniquely designed, swing out rotor (patent pending) capable of securing 2 microplates. The easily accessible rotor chamber includes two plate carriers that rest at a 75° angle. This allows plates to be insterted confidently without sealing tapes or caps. Upon closing the lid of the centrifuge, the rotor accelerates and the centrifugal force "swings" the plates into a horizontal position. Any droplets on thw walls of the plate, quickly concentrate into the well bottoms. With a g-force of over 400 xg, most samples can be spun down in less than 20 seconds.
