Diagnostic reagent for quantitative in vitro determination of Alanine Aminotransferase (ALAT, ALT) in animal serum or heparin plasma on photometric systems. For veterinary or research use only. ALAT, formerly called Glutamic Pyruvic Transaminase (GPT) catalyzes the conversion of α-keto acids into amino acids by transfer of amino groups. As a liver specific enzyme, ALAT is only significantly elevated in hepatobiliary diseases. Parallel measurement of ALAT and ASAT is recommended to distinguish liver from heart or skeletal muscle damages. Method: Optimized UV-test according to IFCC (International Federation of Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine). The test has a wide measuring range (up to 1000 U/L), and interferences are minimized.Reagent 1 contains TRIS, L-Alanine and LDH (lactate dehydrogenase), reagent 2 contains 2-Oxogluterate and NADH. Reagents must be stored refrigerated.
