DESCRIPTION: Intrinsically developed for the cultivation of murine embryonic cells, DMEM (Dulbecco's Modified Eagle Medium) is tailor-made for the cultivation of a broad range of cells, especially if the medium is supplemented with FBS. DMEM is an Eagle medium modification with a fourfold content of amino acids and vitamins. DMEM with 1.0 g/L Glucose is the standard medium, whereas DMEM with 4.5 g/L Glucose is for cells which have a high energy demand.
NEOGEN Tryptic Soy Agar with Lecithin and Tween 80, 500 g
Tryptic Soy Agar with Lecithin and Tween 80 is used for the isolation of microorganisms from surfaces sanitized with quaternary ammonium compounds and is not intended for use in the diagnosis of disease or other conditions in humans. In 1955, Leavitt et al. discovered Tryptic Soy Agar supported excellent growth of aerobic and anaerobic microorganisms. Tryptic Soy Agar is a nutritious base and a variety of supplements are added to enhance the medium, including Lecithin and Tween 80. The Lecithin and Tween 80 inactivate some preservatives that may inhibit bacterial growth, reducing “preservative carryover”. NEOGEN Hektoen Enteric (HE) Agar, 5 kg
Hektoen Enteric Agar is used for the isolation and differentiation of enteric pathogens. Hektoen Enteric Agar is not intended for use in the diagnosis of disease or other conditions in humans. Hektoen Enteric Agar was developed in 1967 by King and Metzger. Compared to other enteric differentiating media commonly used, Hektoen Enteric Agar increased the isolation rate of Salmonella spp. and Shigella spp. This was accomplished by increasing the carbohydrate and peptone content of the medium in order to counteract the inhibitory effects of bile salts and indicators. King and Metzger formulated a medium that slightly inhibited growth of Salmonella and Shigella, while inhibiting Gram-positive microorganisms.
