Bacterial growth results in a 0.3 – 0.5 drop in pH, while ends of the can remain flat. B. coagulans is a soil microorganism and found in canned tomato products and dairy products. R2A Agar is used for the enumeration and cultivation of bacteria from potable water in a laboratory setting. The addition of Lecithin and Polysorbate 80 to Tryptone Glucose Extract (TGE) Agar resulted in a medium that effectively neutralizes quaternary ammonium compounds in testing of germicidal activity.
