Anaerobic Tissue Transport Medium Surgery Pack (ATTMSP) is a mineral salt based semi-solid media in a wide mouth tube. Designed as a non-nutrituve holding medium, it maintains viability of microorganisms through collection & transport of clinical specimens. This media is prepared, dispensed, & packaged under oxygen-free conditions. Each tube is individually packaged in sterile autoclaveable surgery packs.ATTMSP contains buffered mineral salts in a semi-solid media, w/ sodium thioglycollate & cysteine added as reducing agents. This medium maintains the viability of most microorganisms without multiplication & allows for dilution of inhibitors present in clinical material, & meets the viability requirements of obligate anaerobes. Tubes are 25mm wide to facilitate placement & removal of larger sized samples such as tissue biopsies or feces. Resazurin is added as an indicator of significant oxygen exposure to the media.

This media is prepared, dispensed, and packaged under oxygen-free conditions to prevent the formation of oxidized products prior to use.CDC is a tryptic soy agar base supplemented with vitamin K1 and hemin to facilitate the recovery of more fastidious organisms, such as Prevotella, Porphyromonas, and the Bacteroides fragilis group, and should facilitate the pigment production of Prevotella melaninogenica. Sheep blood is added for the observation of hemolytic reactions as seen by the double zone of -hemolysis of Clostridium perfringens, and various growth factors.
