Description
anti-rat erythrocyte monoclonal antibody recognizes rat erythrocytes. This antibody has also been reported to label rat neutrophils, erythrocyte stem cells and 50% bone marrow.
Erythrocytes, commonly known as red blood cells, are the primary cellular component responsible for oxygen transport within the blood. Originating from hematopoietic stem cells in the bone marrow, these cells undergo a maturation process called erythropoiesis, which necessitates key nutrients such as iron, vitamin B12, and folate. Structurally, erythrocytes have a biconcave disc shape, enhancing their surface area for gas exchange. Beyond their oxygen-carrying role, erythrocytes possess immune functions, including antigen presentation and pathogen binding, contributing to the innate immune system. Their membrane surface proteins and intracellular substances play pivotal roles in immuno-regulation, varying significantly among different disease states.Specifications
