Predigested DNA for classroom studies

  • The sizes of the λ / EcoRI DNA fragments, in base pairs, are 21226, 7421, 5804, 5643, 4878, and 3530
  • A sample volume of 20 μl is recommended for ethidium bromide or SYBR Safe staining and 35-40 μl is optimal for methylene blue staining
  • Shortly before loading, heat the fragments at 65°C for 3 minutes and quickly chill on ice
