Methyl paraben-d4 is the deuterium labeled Methyl Paraben. Methyl Paraben, isolated from the barks of Tsuga dumosa, the methyl ester of p-hydroxybenzoic acid, is a standardized chemical allergen. It is a stable, non-volatile compound used as an antimicrobial preservative in foods, agents and cosmetics. The physiologic effect of Methyl Paraben is by means of increased histamine release and cell-mediated immunity.
- Can be used as a tracer.
- Can be used as an internal standard for quantitative analysis by NMR, GC-MS, or LC-MS.
- Stable heavy isotopes have been incorporated into drug molecules for quantitation during the drug development process.
- Deuteration can affect the pharmacokinetic and metabolic profiles of drugs.
