Cryogenic and Freezer Boxes
Cryogenic and freezer boxes, available in either polycarbonate or water repellent fiberboard, are used to store materials in ultra-low or cryogenic freezers. Typically made from cold-resistant fiberboard or plastic resins, they usually have drainage holes to facilitate removal of melted ice or liquid nitrogen.
Fiberboard freezer boxes can be fitted with dividers that are designed to fit various sizes of tubes ranging from PCR vials to 50-mL centrifuge tubes. Most fiberboard boxes are about 5 inches square with heights (including lids) from 2 to 5 inches.
Polycarbonate cryogenic vial storage boxes can be configured with clear covers for easy sample identification. Plastic cryogenic freezer boxes may have clear covers for easier sample identification. Open or clear bottoms allow for bar code scanning. Lids are also sometimes printed with a grid design and space to note information about the samples in specific positions. Plastic storage boxes may have separate or attached (hinged) lids for convenience.
Cryogenic and freezer boxes are available in assorted colors.
Alternatives to boxes include aluminum storage canes for cryostorage tubes and cell freezing containers for controlled freezing of cell samples.

True North freezer boxes (cryo box) are made from a specially formulated corrugated or thin film polypropylene. Designed with sustainability in mind, the polypropylene boxes have superior durability and outlasts the cardboard box alternatives that are susceptible to softening and producing dust. They can freeze down to temperatures of -80°C and thaw multiple times without a problem.
They are moisture resistant, significantly reducing the chance of mold growth. When it comes to saving valuable lab space, True North Flatpack Freezer Boxes are supplied "flat-packed", which eliminates the hassle of stacking and reduces the amount of space needed for test tube storage.
When ready to use, assembly is easy and pre-assembled dividers are included with each box.

Mr. Frosty Cryo 1 degree C freezing containers are inexpensive, reusable, and convenient devices for freezing biological samples. The simple-to-use system is designed to achieve a rate of cooling very close to -1 degree C/minute, the optimal rate for cell preservation. Isopropyl alcohol is necessary to achieve the recommended rate of cooling. Holds 12 to 18 tubes.

Electron Microscopy Sciences 144 Place Freezer Storage Box
144-place PCR Freezer Box fits in a standard 2 inch freezer rack. Designed for ULT freezer storage at temperatures down to -86 degree C, it is durable and impervious to moisture. The clear polycarbonate lid and base and alpha-numeric index make it easy to identify samples within the box. Two boxes may be stacked to fit together in one space in a 2 inch freezer storage rack if using flat-capped PCR tubes.

Made from strong Polycarbonate, these durable cryogenic storage boxes are designed to be used at temperatures between -190°C and +121°C and are auto-clavable. Different models are available to accommodate tubes from 1ml to 5 ml.
A transparent cover allows the user to see the contents of the box, and is keyed to the base to prevent misalignment. Being printed with a series of squares (numbered from 1 to 81, or from 1 to 100), the surface accepts writing with markers for better inventory control.
A unique color-coding system uses color plastic grids inserted to separate the cover from the base of the 81-place box. Boxes are made to accept 100 tubes have a colored base instead of grid.
