Insulated Containers
Insulated containers maintain a constant temperature to help protect temperature-sensitive materials during benchtop use, short- or long-term storage, or transport. Available in a variety of types, such as polyurethane boxes, chests, coolers, and mini-coolers, insulated containers can be used for enzymes, cells, reagents, and other solutions.
Specific applications include: protection from moderate and extreme ambient temperature exposure; short-term frozen or hot storage; and controlled rate freezing (approximately -1°C/minute) for cell preservation.
Insulated containers include:
- Benchtop coolers
- Dewar bottles or flasks
- Freezing containers
- Ice buckets and pans
Insulated containers are usually used for cold items, although they can also be used with cold or hot items.

Patented low form foam dewars provide a safe and durable vessel for handling liquid nitrogen, dry ice/acetone mix and cryogenic materials. Unlike conventional glass and Stainless Steel Dewar flasks which depend upon a vacuum layer for insulation, closed cell foam dewars use a fine closed cell foam for insulation. This foam material is chemically inert and mechanically durable enough to be exposed directly to liquid nitrogen, without leaking or degrading. Unique design makes the foam dewar easier to handle and safer to use than a traditional low profile glass Dewar. The lower thermal mass of the foam dewar will cause less liquid nitrogen boil off when it is filled. It also will accumulate less frost during regular use. The end result is that less liquid nitrogen is consumed.

This vessel, which holds 800 ml of liquid nitrogen. It replaces a large sized low profile glass dewar. The foam dewar has superior durability, safety, and thermal insulating properties.
