Perkin Elmer US LLC D-Torch 0-Slot Ceramic Outer Tube for Optima 8x00
In general, the ceramic outer tube has a much longer lifetime, greatly reducing interruptions and downtime due to torch failure. The replaceable outer tube is more economical to replace than having to change the complex quartz assembly of the standard Optima torch. Furthermore, when analyzing difficult sample types, the quartz outer tube can devitrify in a few hours of operation, while the optional ceramic outer tube can last years under the same conditions. The ceramic outer tube is of particular benefit for: The analysis of wear metals in engine oils, where quartz outer tubes often suffer from short lifetime. Si determinations, where quartz outer tubes often produce high background signals. Fusion samples or samples with high levels of dissolved solids which cause quartz tubes to devitrify.
