Newcomer Supply Permaslip Mounting Medium is reliable and easy-to-use with excellent results as a standard mounting medium product or as a liquid coverslip (coverglass free) mounting medium. It is a clear acrylic medium that is fast drying. Permaslip Mounting Medium can also be used in tissue/cell transfer procedures to transfer tissue sections or cell preparations from a prepared microscopic slide when specimen availability is limited and additional diagnostic workup is necessary. Examples when tissue/cell transfer with Permaslip is applicable include: Paraffin sections of small biopsies/minimal tissue, Biopsies with a small foci of neoplasm, Paraffin block is unavailable, Cytology preparations, fine needle aspirates (FNA), Transfer of tissue from an uncharged slide to charged slide(s), Preparing multiple slides from a single slide preparation, Salvaging/restoring broken slides back to a whole mount. Technovit 3040 yellow is a fast curing methyl methacrylate-based resin, whose chemical composition warrants a firm, durable bond between Technovit and the specimen. Technovit 3040 consists of two components–powder and liquid–allowing simple mixing, easy adherance to the specimen, and fast curing. For fixing the mount, a high viscous consistency is required(i.e. a mixing ratio of approximately 2-3 parts per volume powder: 1 part per volume liquid) has proven to be the most advantageous. Binds to the minor groove of double-stranded DNA preferentially to adenine and thymine AT rich DNA, like Hoechst dyes, forming a stable complex which fluoresces approximately 20 times greater than DAPI alone. Spectral Data Excitation lambdaex 340 nm Emission lambdaem 488 nm only DAPI. Excitation lambdaex 360nm Emission lambdaem 460nm DAPI-DNA complex. CC/Mount is an aqueous mounting medium with very high refractive index. When applied to the stained tissue sections, specimens can be permanently mounted without chromogens fading. Due to the superior refractive index of CC/Mount, tissues mounted in this medium look like dehydrated specimens. No coverslipping is required with CC/Mount. However, if coverslipping is desired, dried CC/Mount can be post-mounted by using an organic based mounting medium. Citifluor mounting medium for immunofluorescence is designed to reduce the fading of the fluorescence of dyes used for labeling biological specimens. In the technique of fluorescence microscopy, the fluorescence is stimulated by high intensity UV and/or visible light. Absorption of the light populates an excited state of the dye (usually a singlet state) and this leads to fluorescence. However, the excited state of the dye may undergo chemical reaction, which leads to destruction as evidenced by the fading of the fluorescence and consequent loss of the image. Glycerol solution containing a phenolic type of antifadent.

This mounting medium is fortified with DAPI which is a counter-stain for DNA. This product is to be used in situ hybridization techniques or other methods where fluorescence of DNA staining is required. DAPI excites at 360nm and emits at 460nm, producing a blue fluorescence. RNA is also stained with DAPI.
Not recommended for phycoethyrin (PE), phycocyanin (PC) and allophycocyanin (APC).
