VECTASHIELD Antifade Mounting Medium prevents rapid photobleaching of fluorescent proteins and dyes. It does not solidify, but remains a semi-liquid on the slide and can be stored without sealing. If desired, coverslips can be sealed around the perimeter with nail polish or a plastic sealant. Mounted slides should be stored at 4 degrees C, protected from light. VECTASHIELD Mounting Medium is compatible with a wide array of fluorochromes, enzymatic substrates, and fluorescent proteins, including many of the fluorophores used in super resolution methods like STORM, STED, and 3D-SIMM imaging, extending their lifetime and enhancing their photo-switching characteristics. VECTASHIELD Vibrance Antifade Mounting Medium with DAPI offers superior protection against photobleaching during fluorescence-based imaging of cells and tissue sections. It is supplied as an aqueous, ready-to-use formulation with a blue fluorescent counterstain. No sealing is required, and sections may be viewed after only one hour. There is minimal bubble formation, retraction or background development over extended room temperature slide storage. It works well with dyes and other fluors across the spectrum, including those with far-red fluorescence. The refractive index after curing is 1.47. 12-month expiration.

CC/Mount is an aqueous mounting medium with very high refractive index. When applied to the stained tissue sections, specimens can be permanently mounted without chromogens fading. Due to the superior refractive index of CC/Mount, tissues mounted in this medium look like dehydrated specimens. No coverslipping is required with CC/Mount. However, if coverslipping is desired, dried CC/Mount can be post-mounted by using an organic based mounting medium. Advantages of CC/Mount are numerous: no coverslip, no exposure to the organic fumes, permanent storage of slides and high resolution of tissue specimens. CC/Mount is compatible with chromogens lik AEC, DAB, Fast Red, BCIP/NBT, BCIP/INT and fluorescent dyes like FITC and phycobiliproteins. Citifluor mounting medium for immunofluorescence is designed to reduce the fading of the fluorescence of dyes used for labeling biological specimens. In the technique of fluorescence microscopy, the fluorescence is stimulated by high intensity UV and/or visible light. Absorption of the light populates an excited state of the dye (usually a singlet state) and this leads to fluorescence. However, the excited state of the dye may undergo chemical reaction, which leads to destruction as evidenced by the fading of the fluorescence and consequent loss of the image.
