Use granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor (GM-CSF) to induce the proliferation and differentiation of hematopoietic progenitor cells and the generation of neutrophils, eosinophils, and macrophages (Barreda et al. Dev Comp Immunol, 2004). Recombinant human GM-CSF also promotes the production of myeloid cells of the granulocytic and monocytic lineages in vivo. GM-CSF has been tested for mobilization of hematopoietic progenitor cells and for treating chemotherapy-induced neutropenia in patients. In combination with other cytokines such as stem cell factor, IL-3, erythropoietin, and thrombopoietin, it also stimulates erythroid and megakaryocyte progenitor cells (Barreda et al.). Human recombinant GM-CSF from STEMCELL is animal component-free and comes lyophilized with ≥ 95% purity; EC50 ≤ 200 pg/mL; endotoxin levels verified ≤ 1.0 EU/μg protein. Alternative names: Colony-stimulating factor 2, CSF-2, MGI-1GM, Pluripoitin-alpha. Visit STEMCELL.com for more information.
