NEOGEN EC Broth, 5 kg
EC Broth is used for the detection of coliform bacteria at 37°C and Escherichia coli at 44.5°C. EC Broth is not intended for use in the diagnosis of disease or other conditions in humans.EC Broth (Escherichia coli Broth) is a selective enrichment broth designed for the isolation of coliforms, including E. coli, from water and food samples. The selective nature of this medium ensures that the growth of non-coliform bacteria is minimized. NEOGEN EC Medium with MUG, 5 kg
EC Medium w/ MUG is used for the fluorogenic detection of Escherichia coli in a laboratory setting. EC Medium w/ MUG is not intended for use in the diagnosis of disease or other conditions in humans.EC Medium was developed by Hajna and Perry in an effort to improve the methods for the detection of the coliform group and E. coli. This medium consists of a buffered lactose broth with the addition of 0.15% Bile Salts Mixture. Growth of spore-forming bacteria is inhibited by the bile salts, while growth of E. coli is enhanced by its presence. EC Medium w/ MUG is the same formula as EC Medium, with the addition of 4-methylumbelliferyl-ß-D-glucuronide. NEOGEN YM Broth, 5 kg
YM Broth is used for the cultivation of fungi in a laboratory setting. YM Broth is not intended for use in the diagnosis of disease or other conditions in humans. YM Broth is prepared according to the formulation published by Wickerham. Wickerham suggested that YM Broth, acidified to pH 3.0 – 4.0, be used as an enrichment medium for yeasts from populations also containing bacteria and molds. To favor isolation of fermentative species, add a layer of sterile paraffin oil 1 cm deep on the surface of the inoculated broth. Cultures should be incubated until growth appears, and then streaked onto YM Agar to obtain isolated yeast colonies. To isolate fermentative and oxidative strains, place acidified inoculated YM Broth on a rotary shaker for 1 to 2 days. This favors yeast recovery while preventing sporulation of molds. Yeast and Mold Agar is recommended for the isolation and maintenance of yeasts and molds. This medium can also be used for the detection of wild yeasts in beer. Yeast and Mold Agar is not intended for use in the diagnosis of disease or other conditions in humans. Yeast and Mold Agar is prepared according to the formulation published by Wickerham and was formulated for the selective isolation of yeasts from mixed cultures containing bacteria and molds. The selectivity of this medium may be enhanced through acidification or through addition of selective agents. Yeast and Mold Agar should be sterilized without pH adjustment and sterile acid added to the medium cooled to 45 - 50°C. Acidified Yeast and Mold Agar should not be heated. Rappaport Vassiliadis R10 Broth is used for the selective enrichment of Salmonella spp. from foods in a laboratory setting. Rappaport Vassiliadis R10 Broth is not intended for use in the diagnosis of disease or other conditions in humans. Rappaport et al formulated an enrichment medium for Salmonella spp. that was modified by Vassiliadis et al. The Rappaport formulation, designated R 25/37°C, recommended incubation at 37°C. The Vassiliadis modification, designated R 10/43°C, had a reduced level of Malachite Green and recommended incubation at 43°C.
