This MAb recognizes a protein of 130 kDa, identified as Ksp-cadherin. Cadherins form a superfamily of related glycoproteins that mediate calcium-dependent cell adhesion and transmit signals from the extracellular matrix to the cytoplasm. Cadherins have been implicated in embryogenesis, tissue morphogenesis, tissue structure maintenance, cell polarization, neoplastic invasiveness and metastasis, and membrane transport. It is suggested that Ksp-cadherin is a marker for terminal differentiation of the basolateral membranes of renal tubular epithelial cells. Within the kidney, Ksp-Cadherin is found exclusively in the basolateral membrane of renal tubular epithelial cells and collecting duct cells, and not in glomeruli, renal interstitial cells, or blood vessels. Binding of proteins to this modified nucleotide may regulate mRNA translation and stability. This gene may be associated with susceptibility to pancreatic cancer in human patients, and knockdown of this gene resulted in reduced proliferation in a human liver cancer cell line.

This product is intended to be used in combination with Betazoid DAB Chromogen (BDB900C) available in the Betazoid DAB Chromogen Kit (BDB2004). The color of the chromogen buffer mixture may vary from colorless to pale brown. Staining properties are not affected by the color of the chromogen buffer mixture. In some cases, antibody titers may increase as much as 2-fold using this DAB system. Betazoid DAB can be used both manually and on automated stainers.
