Using the Invitrogen™ Custom DNA Oligos Tool

  • Go to https://www.fishersci.com/
  • Select Tools from the upper-left navigation menu.
  • Under Oligos Tools, select Invitrogen™ Custom DNA Oligos Tool.

1. Start Your Order
   1. Select Start Shopping to open the Custom DNA Oligos ordering portal.
   2. Choose to enter a single oligo or upload multiple sequences for batch ordering. The portal supports bulk uploads of up to 200 oligo sequences.
2. Enter Your Oligo Information
   1. Provide the required information for each oligonucleotide: Project or Researcher Name (optional), Oligo Name, DNA Sequence (5' → 3'), Quantity (if ordering multiple oligos).
   2. As you enter your sequence, the portal automatically calculates: Sequence length (base count), Melting Temperature (Tm), GC Content (%).
3. Select Configuration Options
   1. Customize your oligo by selecting: Synthesis Scale (e.g., 25 nmol, 50 nmol, 200 nmol, 1 µmol, 10 µmol), Purification Method (Desalted, Cartridge, HPLC, PAGE, depending on availability), Delivery Format (Dry or Resuspended), Tube or Plate Format (where applicable)
4. Add Modifications (If Needed)
   1. If your application requires specialized oligos, you can select from available: 5′ Modifications, Internal Modifications, 3′ Modifications, Fluorescent Labels, Quenchers, Other specialty modifications (availability varies).
5. Review Sequence Analysis
   1. Before ordering, verify: DNA sequence accuracy, Sequence orientation (5' → 3'), Melting temperature (Tm), GC content, Selected modifications, Scale and purification options
   2. Correct any validation errors identified by the configurator before proceeding.
6. Save or Add to Cart
   1. You may: Save your design for future editing, Export your oligo list, Add individual or multiple oligos to your shopping cart.
   2. Continue shopping or proceed to checkout through Fisher Scientific.

• Select the synthesis scale and purification method appropriate for your downstream application.
• For cloning, mutagenesis, or probe applications, consider higher-purity options such as HPLC or PAGE purification.

Can I order multiple oligos at once?
Yes. The bulk upload feature allows you to upload and configure up to 200 oligo sequences in a single order.

Which purification option should I choose?
The recommended purification method depends on your application. Desalted oligos are suitable for many routine PCR and sequencing applications, while HPLC or PAGE purification is recommended for applications requiring higher purity, such as cloning, mutagenesis, or fluorescent probe synthesis.

Can I order modified oligos?
Yes. The configurator supports many 5′, internal, and 3′ modifications, including fluorescent dyes and specialty chemistries, depending on the product configuration.

What happens if my sequence contains errors?
The ordering portal performs sequence validation and highlights issues before you can save your design or add it to your cart, helping reduce ordering errors.

What is the typical lead time for oligos?
PCR primers ordered before 10:00 a.m. PT are eligible for same-day shipment. For all other oligos, the estimated ship date is provided in the design tool.
