Complement C3 proteins play a pivotal role in initiating the complement system, with processing by C3 convertase central to both classical and alternative pathways. Upon activation, C3b can covalently bind to cell surface carbohydrates or immune aggregates via its reactive thioester. The anaphylatoxin C3a, a result of proteolytic degradation, mediates local inflammatory processes. This product is a recombinant cynomolgus-derived Complement C3 protein, expressed by HEK293 cells, with a C-His labeled tag. In chronic inflammation, C3a acts as a chemoattractant for neutrophils, inducing smooth muscle contraction, increasing vascular permeability, and triggering histamine release.
