By incubating a surface with The Blocking Solution, such as a microtiter plate or western blotting membrane, free spaces on the surface are saturated by the components of this blocker. This minimizes unwanted binding of the analyte or the detection antibody to the surface, avoiding background and improving sensitivity of the assay.
