Quick-Load 100 bp DNA Ladder is a pre-mixed, ready-to-load molecular weight marker containing bromophenol blue as a tracking dye. The DNA Ladder consists of proprietary plasmids which are digested to completion with appropriate restriction enzymes to yield 12 bands suitable for use as molecular weight standards for agarose gel electrophoresis. The digested DNA includes fragments ranging from 100-1,517 base pairs. The 500 and 1,000 base pair bands have increased intensity to serve as reference bands. NEB also offers a Quick-Load version of this ladder with purple dye.

1 kb DNA Ladder allows for determining the size of double-stranded DNA from 250 - 10000 base pairs (bp) by gel electrophoresis. The ladder consists of 13 double-stranded, blunt-end DNA fragments, of sizes 250, 500, 750, 1000, 1500, 2000, 2500, 3000, 4000, 5000, 6000, 8000, and 10,000 bp (see Figure 1). The 1000 and 3000 bp fragments have greater intensity relative to the other bands for easy identification. DNA Ladder is not intended for quantitative analysis. The 1 kb DNA ladder comes pre-mixed with DNA Loading Dye, which is also available for individual sale (Catalog #79018), for loading DNA samples into agarose gel wells. The recommended loading volume of the 1 kb DNA ladder is 6 μL per lane.

DNA Loading Dye is a ready-to-use marker dye containing orange G (0.4%), bromophenol blue (0.03%), and xylene cyanol FF (0.03%), in 15% Ficoll 400, 10 mM Tris-HCl (pH 7.5), and 50 mM EDTA (pH 8.0). The dye is used for loading DNA samples into agarose gel wells and tracking migration during electrophoresis. In a 0.5 - 1.4% agarose gel in 0.5X TBE, xylene cyanol FF migrates at approximately 4 kb, bromophenol blue at approximately 300 bp, and orange G at approximately 50 bp. This product is free of nuclease activity.

The Low Range ssRNA Ladder is a set of 6 RNA molecules produced by in vitro transcription of a mixture of 6 linear DNA templates. The ladder sizes are: 1000, 500, 300, 150, 80 and 50 bases. The 300 base fragment is at double intensity to serve as a reference band. This ladder is suitable for use as an ssRNA size standard on denaturing polyacrylamide-urea gels, and on denaturing or native agarose gels.
