Chemical. CAS: 911004-45-0. Formula: C27H29N7 · 3HCl. MW: 560.95. The Hoechst stains are a family of fluorescent stains for labeling DNA in fluorescence microscopy. The blue fluorescent Hoechst dye is a cell permeable nucleic acid stain that has multiple applications, including sensitive detection of DNA in the presence of RNA in agarose gels, automated DNA determination, sensitive determination of cell number and chromosome sorting. Useful vital stain for the flow cytometric recognition of DNA damage and other viability measurements by monitoring the emission spectral shifts of the dyes. Because this fluorescent stain labels DNA, it can also be used to visualize nuclei and mitochondria. Hoechst 34580 can be excited by violet laser at 405 nm, and emit blue/cyan fluorescence light around an emission maximum at ~440 nm. It is cell-permeable and an excellent tool for flow cytometry studies.

Bioworld Coomassie Blue R-250 (2X), 500 mL
Stain for location and detection of proteins. Protocol: After SDS-PAGE, transfer the gels in fixing solution (30% methanol and 7% acetic acid) for 30 min. under constant agitation. Replace the fixing solution, submerge the gel in stain and shake the gel gently gor 2-4 hrs. Pour off the stain, rinse the gel briefly with fixing solution and cover the gel with fresh fixing solution for 30 min. Repeat and continue destaining until distinct blue bands against a clear background are obtained. Store the gel in 7% acetic acid solution. Photograph or dry the gel according to your standard protocol.Synonym: Brilliant blue R; Coomassie brilliant blue R-250; Acid Blue 83; CI 42660Appearance: Liquid

SmartGlow Nucleic Acid Stain is ideal for excitation of nucleic acids with UV or visible blue light transilluminators. Unlike EtBR, SmartGlow it is non-mutagenic and does not require special methods of disposal. SmartGlow PS (Pre Stain) can be used as a direct replacement for Ethidium Bromide in agarose and polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. The stain emits green fluorescence when bound to dsDNA, ssDNA and RNA. SmartGlow PS exhibits excitation peaks at 290nm and 490nm, allowing it to be used with UV and blue light. SmartGlow LD (Loading Dye) is supplied at 6X concentration and is added directly to the samples. No dye needs to be added to the gel or running buffer. After electrophoretic separation, view and document your results using a UV or blue light illuminator. SmartGlow LD emits green fluorescence when bound to dsDNA, ssDNA and RNA. Replaces hazardous EtBr Excitation by UV or blue light Non-mutagenic, environmentally safe Two types: PS (Pre-Stain) LD (Loading Dye)
