ABclonal Technology ANG Rabbit pAb
This gene encodes angiogenin, a member of the RNase A superfamily with weak ribonucleolytic activity. Angiogenin mediates blood vessel formation by binding to actin on endothelial cells and accumulates in the nucleolus, stimulating ribosomal transcription. Under stress, it translocates to the cytosol, hydrolyzing tRNAs and affecting protein synthesis. The mature protein has a nuclear localization signal, a cell binding motif, and antimicrobial activity against bacteria and fungi. It is neurotrophic, neuroprotective, and plays roles in cell growth and tumor progression. Mutations are associated with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). This gene and the neighboring RNase4 share promoters and exons, but splice into distinct coding regions. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding the same protein.
