Microtubes
Single-use containers designed to hold microliter to milliliter quantities of liquid. Products may be sterile/non-sterile, come with or without a variety of caps (screw, tether, snap), and may be suitable for use in microcentrifuges.
High quality standard snap cap microtubes, or microcentrifuge tubes, are essential for the safe processing of low to medium sized sample volume applications in clinical chemistry, biochemistry and molecular biology. Ideal for protein research, mass spectrometry, protein array, sample preparation, microcentrifugation and sample storage, they are available in a variety of colours, including amber and black for light sensitive samples.
The snap cap provides a safe, liquid-tight seal and some flat top caps include a needle insertion spot. Some microtubes are also available with additional safety lock snap caps to minimise sample loss during the centrifugation process and to provide added security when working with samples that are radioactive or which pose a biohazard.

Available as sterile or non-sterile, polypropylene microtubes can also feature low binding properties to reduce protein and nucleic acid loss and hence better sample recovery.

MTC Bio’s 5mL MacroTube™ family takes all of the conveniences of 1.5mL tubes and scales them up for larger volumes and throughput applications. In many cases, they replace 15mL tubes, dramatically reducing plastic waste, storage space and shipping costs. Additionally, the 56mm length (vs. 120mm for 15mL tubes) greatly reduces the risk of contamination of pipettor shafts, allowing 1mL or 5mL tips to easily reach the tube bottom. The tubes are made of high clarity, low-binding, virgin polypropylene and are certified RNase and DNase free. The 16mm diameter is identical to standard 15mL tubes, ensuring compatibility with existing centrifuge rotors. Ideal alternative to using larger conical tubes when working with volumes less than 5 ml. This smaller tube allows only the tip to be exposed to the sample being withdrawn and eliminates inserting the pipettor barrel inside tube. Made from high quality polypropylene that can be autoclaved, boiled and stored at -80°C. Tubes withstand centifugation to 14,000 rpm and fit rotors that accommodates 15 ml tubes. Polypropylene micro-tubes supplied with unique GripSeal caps feature bright contrasting color stripes on a white cap. The color stripes provide a quick and easy method for coding samples. Integral TPE (thermal plastic elastomer) cap seals provide a leak proof fit and eliminate a separate O-ring. Both the tube and cap are DNase and RNase free, and can be autoclaved.
