Dissolve 8 grams in one liter distilled water. Heat solution to boiling with continuous stirring for one minute. Sterilize by autoclaving at 121°C for 15 minutes. Store at room temperature.

RPI Media is now available in convenient pre-measured and pre-mixed capsules. Prebuffered media eliminates messy weighing and pH adjustments.
Simply dissolve 25 capsules per 1 Liter of distilled water. Water must be 37°C or warmer to completely dissolve gelatin capsule. Agitate. Sterilize by autoclaving for 15 minutes before use. Buffer is set for 7.0 ± 0.2 at 25°C using a 10mM solution of Tris/Tris HCl. pH will vary depending on temperature.

XLD Agar with Novobiocin is a selective and differential culture medium used for the isolation of Salmonella species from clinical, food, and environmental samples. The base formulation contains xylose, lysine, and deoxycholate to differentiate enteric organisms through carbohydrate fermentation and hydrogen sulfide production. The addition of novobiocin enhances selectivity by inhibiting competing gram positive organisms and certain gram negative bacteria. Each plate contains approximately 20mL of prepared medium dispensed in a standardized 15x100mm monoplate format. This ready to use medium is widely applied in food microbiology laboratories, public health testing, and environmental monitoring programs for improved recovery and identification of Salmonella organisms.

ATHENA ES Hyper Broth™ 500g
Hyper Broth™ is an APF Certified™ proprietary media formulation developed by AthenaES™ for improved expression of recombinant proteins in E. coli. The medium is a complex, rich formulation which supplies amino acids, vitamins, and glucose at high levels. This medium yields the highest level of biomass of all AthenaES™ media. The medium is buffered at pH 7.3 ± 0.2 and has the highest buffering capacity of Athena’s Expression Media, which permits high glucose levels. For expression of recombinant proteins, induction should be done at cell densities three times that of LB Broth. Cell yields are typically 5 times that of LB Broth depending on the strain. Plasmid copy numbers are significantly higher than they are for LB Broth. This medium is suitable as the base for fermentation cultures and is excellent for feed-batch applications. Biomass yields will depend on the process and the strain employed.

S2 Media 15x100mm Xylose Lysine Deoxycholate (XLD) Agar, 10/pack
Xylose Lysine Deoxycholate (XLD) Agar is a selective and differential medium used for the isolation of enteric pathogens. Salmonella species are able to ferment xylose to produce acid, but not lactose or sucrose. When the xylose is exhausted Salmonella will decarboxylate lysine shifting the pH back to neutral. At near neutral pH, Salmonella can reduce sodium thiosulfate producing hydrogen sulfide which creates a complex with ferric ammonium citrate to produce black or black centered colonies. MacConkey Broth is a selective and differential liquid medium intended for selection and isolation of enteric gram-negative bacilli, such as coliforms. The original formulation of MacConkey Broth, developed by MacConkey in 1900, contained 0.5% sodium taurocholate (inhibitor) and litmus (indicator). Several iterations were subsequently proposed and in 1905 litmus was replaced with neutral red. In 1953, Childs and Allen replaced neutral red with bromocresol purple after studies demonstrated it was less inhibitory.
