Ceramide 3 (also known as N-Stearoyl phytosphingosine or C18 Phytoceramide) is a bioactive sphingolipid naturally occurring in the stratum corneum of organisms like Saccharomyces cerevisiae, wheat grain, and mammalian epidermis. It is structurally composed of a phytosphingosine backbone amine-linked to a C18 fatty acid chain.
