Life Science Buffers
Balanced salt solutions and powders used for molecular, protein, nucleic acid, and cell biology applications including cell culture, electrophoresis, ELISA, and chromatography processes; available in a variety of formulations and grades.
Buffer solutions serve to keep pH (acidity or alkalinity) nearly constant in a variety of chemical and biological applications. For example, a bicarbonate buffer helps maintain the pH of blood, a buffered saline maintains cellular contents at a consistent pH level, and buffers help maintain a narrow pH range for enzymes to function correctly.
Most biological samples used in research are kept at a pH of about 7.4. Common biological buffers used for tissue culture include Dulbeccos phosphate buffered saline (PBS), Tris base, HEPES, MOPS, PIPES, and other formulations developed for specific cell lines or applications. Most buffers used in cell culture are also DNase-, RNase-, and protease-free.
The choice of buffer for a particular biological reaction or site depends on several factors:
- Temperature
- Desired or target pH
- Buffer toxicity (to the system)
- Buffer interactions with other system components

P62-mediated mitophagy inducer (PMI) is a P62-mediated mitophagy activator that activates mitochondrial autophagy without recruitment of Parkin or collapse of the mitochondrial membrane potential. It remains active in cells lacking a fully functional PINK1/Parkin pathway and serves as a pharmacological tool to study the molecular mechanisms of mitosis, avoiding toxicity and some of the non-specific effects associated with the sudden dissipation of mitochondria lacking membrane potential.

MES (2-(N-morpholino)ethanesulfonic acid) anhydrous is a biochemical reagent designed for pH buffering in laboratory applications. This 5kg volume of MES anhydrous is used to prepare MES buffers that provide a stable pH range, particularly for biological assays and biochemical studies. MES is widely used in enzyme reactions, protein stabilization, and tissue culture media where maintaining a consistent acidic pH is critical. It is particularly effective at buffering in the pH range of 5.5 to 6.7, making it suitable for various biochemical processes, including those in protein chemistry and molecular biology. MES is often utilized in electrophoresis, chromatography, and other sensitive experiments requiring precise pH control.

MES Sodium Salt (2-(N-Morpholino) ethanesulfonic acid), sodium salt, in a 100g volume is a biochemical reagent designed for pH buffering in laboratory experiments. It is commonly used in biological assays, cell culture, and protein purification due to its ability to maintain a stable and non-interfering pH. The sodium salt form of MES is particularly useful in experiments where higher ionic strength is required. This 100g size is ideal for smaller experiments and research studies that need precise pH control without requiring large quantities of reagent. MES Sodium Salt is an essential component in molecular biology and biochemistry for maintaining optimal conditions in sensitive biological assays.

Annexin V is a Ca2 -dependent phospholipid-binding protein that specifically binds to phosphatidylserine (PS) PS is normally located on the inner leaflet of the cell membrane phospholipid bilayer However during the early stages of apoptosis PS moves from the inner surface to the outer surface of the cell membrane becoming exposed to the extracellular environment Labeled with a fluorescence dye such as PE Annexcin V is commonly used as a fluorescent probe to detect apoptosis through flow cytometry or fluorescence microscopy within 15-30 minutes To use this reagent additional purchase of 10X Binding Buffer (Cat No K2284) is required or you can directly purchase the Annexin V-PE Apoptosis Kit which includes the buffer (Cat No K2281) To further identify different stages of apoptosis we provide ready-to-use double-staining kits Annexin V-PE/7-AAD Apoptosis Kit (K2283) or Annexin V-PE/DAPI Apoptosis Kit (K2282)

Annexin V is a Ca2 -dependent phospholipid-binding protein that specifically binds to phosphatidylserine (PS) Under normal conditions PS resides on the inner side of the cell membrane lipid bilayer However in early apoptosis PS translocates from the inner leaflet of the plasma membrane to the outer surface becoming exposed externally Annexin V exhibits high binding affinity for PS and when conjugated with fluorescent molecules (Cy5) it serves as a fluorescent probe to detect apoptosis using flow cytometry or fluorescence microscopy The staining procedure requires only 10 20 minutes PI specifically binds to double-stranded DNA to produce red fluorescence it is normally impermeant to intact cell membranes However during late-stage apoptosis or in dead cells PI penetrates the membrane to stain nuclear DNA Combined Annexin V-Cy5 and PI staining allows distinction between cells at various stages of apoptosis and dead cells
