Dronedarone HCl (CAS 141625-93-6) is a structural analogue of amiodarone investigated for its antiarrhythmic properties particularly in atrial fibrillation research Dronedarone selectively inhibits the muscarinic acetylcholine receptor-regulated K current (IK(ACh)) in isolated guinea pig atrial cells with reported IC50 values of 10 nM for carbachol-induced and less than 100 nM for GTP- -S-induced IK(ACh) This inhibitory potency and selectivity toward IK(ACh) significantly exceed those of amiodarone In in vivo studies using C57Bl/6 mice dronedarone has been shown to reduce arterial thrombus formation inhibit platelet aggregation and decrease plasminogen activator inhibitor-1 (PAI-1) expression highlighting its utility in cardiovascular and thrombosis research
