7-Methylcoumarin is a coumarin derivative with potent hepatoprotective and antioxidant properties. It acts as a mechanism-based inhibitor for CYP2A6. This compound has been shown to significantly decrease alanine aminotransferase (ALT), aspartate aminotransferase (AST), and serum bilirubin (TB) in rats with CCl4-induced liver damage, while also restoring total protein (TP) and albumin (TA) levels in serum and preventing oxidative stress. Additionally, 7-Methylcoumarin can reduce the mitotic activity of *A. sativum* promeristem.
