C18 monolayer formed by special bonding chemistry does not collapse in pure aqueous solution.

Bio-C8 phase is made of monomeric and fully endcapped chemistry. The uniform stationary phase allows the separation to achieve high selectivity and high efficiency. These reversed-phase columns contain Waters patented embedded polar group technology that “shields” the silica’ residual silanol surface from highly basic analytes. The reduced silanol activity for the SymmetryShield RP8 column significantly improves peak shape and resolution.
