Estrone sulfate-d4 sodium is a deuterium-labeled version of Estrone sulfate sodium. It is an inactive endogenous estrogen that can be converted into Estrone and Estradiol. It acts as a substrate for the OATP1B3 transporter and can be converted into Estrone and Estradiol in normal mammary parenchymal cells. Estrone sulfate sodium has been shown to stimulate the growth of nitrosomethylurea-induced mammary tumors in ovariectomized rats and the colony formation of dispersed nitrosomethylurea mammary cells. This conversion occurs both in vivo and in vitro and is relevant for breast cancer-related research.
