AEBSF hydrochloride is an irreversible inhibitor of serine proteases such as chymotrypsin, kallikrein, plasmin, thrombin, and trypsin. It inhibits Aβ production by directly inhibiting β-secretase in various human cell lines and suppresses lysis of leukemic cells by human macrophages. It also interferes with blastocyst growth and HeLa cell adhesion. In vivo, AEBSF prolongs survival in *T. gondii* infection models and reduces inflammation in murine models.
