Cellulase R-10 is an enzyme mixture (cellulase, hemicellulase, pectinase, protease) that hydrolyzes 1,4-β-D-glucosidic bonds in cellulose, generating oligosaccharides, disaccharides, and glucose. It's used with lyase R-10 for plant cell wall breakdown in protoplast preparation and is applied in plant cell hybridization research.
- Activity: ≥10 U/mg solid (1 unit produces 1 μg glucose in 1 min at 50°C, pH 4.8).
- Appearance: Solid, light yellow to light brown.
- Solubility: 9.52 mg/mL in H2O (pH adjusted to 2 with HCl).
- Activity inhibited by glucose, fructooligosaccharides, and methylcellulose.
- Activity activated by sodium fluoride, magnesium, cobalt chloride, cadmium, calcium phosphate, and neutral salts.
