CellPro™ Trypticase Soy Agar is a general-purpose medium used for the cultivation and isolation of a wide range of microorganisms in clinical and laboratory settings. This agar medium is formulated with enzymatic digest of casein (tryptone), enzymatic digest of soybean meal (soytone), sodium chloride, agar, and other nutrients. Bopp et al. developed BCYE-CCVC agar in 1981. A BCYE Agar base is supplemented with antibiotics (cephalothin, colistin, vancomycin, and cycloheximide) to inhibit competing bacteria and fungi. ACES buffer helps maintain the proper pH for optimal growth. The antimicrobial agents act to suppress the normal flora present in fecal specimens.
