Sesamolin, isolated from Sesamum indicum, possesses antioxidative activity and inhibits lipid peroxidation. It also demonstrates a neuroprotective effect. Sesamolin potently inhibits MAPK cascades by preventing the phosphorylation of JNK, p38 MAPKs, and caspase-3, but not ERK-MAPK expression. It is orally active.
