D-Arabinopyranose-13C5 is a 13C labeled version of D-Arabinopyranose. Its ring-opened form, D-arabinose, is an orally active antidepressant and an inhibitor of *C. elegans* growth, with an IC50 of 7.5 mM. D-arabinose can cross the blood-brain barrier and selectively interfere with the metabolism of D-ribose and D-fructose, thereby inhibiting nematode growth. It also inhibits cell biofilm synthesis, demonstrating antibacterial activity. D-arabinose activates the ACSS2-PPARγ/TFEB-CRTC1 axis through the lysosomal AXIN-LKB1-AMPK pathway, leading to CRTC1 transcription and antidepressant-like effects.
